When
opening a chart there the PTPs are different from last time
it was open, why?
A. - Non Qualified PTPs
When a PTP first shops it is an open circle. If the prices
subsequently moves to qualify the signal then the circle
is 'Filled'. If the PTP is not Qualified then it will remain
as an open circle. The settings can be set to hide the 'Non
Qualified PTPs' to keep the chart less cluttered. To see
the 'Non Qualified PTPs untick 'Hide Qualified PTPs on the
PTP settings.
B.
- Intensity and other PTP settings
If
the settings for the PTPs are changed then all the charts
will be altered to the new values.
i.e. You have an intensity setting of '5' and a PTP shows.
If you close the chart and re open it with the intensity
set to '8' it is possible that the previous PTP may not
show it the criteria does not meet the new setting.
C-
Other Software settings
If any time differences have been changed since the chart
was previously opened this may have an effect on the result
of the PTPs.
D.
- Tick Corrections
Occasionally the data feed may receive a 'bad tick'. This
may have an effect on any signals in the software. The 'bad
ticks' are usually corrected by the data supplier on their
servers. If a correction has been made since the chart was
previously opened the changes will show on the new chart,
this could have an effect on the signals in the software.
E.
- Missing Ticks
When the software opens a new chart it requests the history
data from the server. Once complete the chart can then receive
fresh data as it arrives in real time as ticks. It can take
a few moments for the history to be received during which
time it may be possible to miss a couple of ticks while
the history is loading. This could have an effect on the
shape of the current bar and therefore on any PTP signals
at that point in time.
F.
- Ticks at Exact Bar Times - Altered in RTTESS
v1.1.36
Because RTTESS collects data in real time, if a tick arrives
exactly at the time of a change of bar time it is possible
it could be the Open of the next bar rather than the close
of the previous Bar. If the chart is subsequently refreshed
the historical data feed may have it the other way round.
This can have an effect on the shape of the bar and subsequently
the signals.
We
have added some extra code to avoid this issue in the future.
This is incorporated in v1.1.36 or later
G.
- Multiple Ticks received at the 'Open' or 'Close' time.
At busy trading times many ticks are received each second.
The data received from IQfeed is time stamped to the nearest
second. Is is therefore possible and common for there to
be more that one tick price for each time stamp. If multiple
ticks are received at the time a bar 'Opens' or 'Closes'
any of the values can be taken as the 'Open' or 'Close'
price. This can have an effect on the form of that bar and
ultimately on the designation of a signal if it is on the
cusp of the criteria to designate it as a signal.
H.
- The PTP tool may be switched OFF
The PTP tool may have inadvertently been switched off when
watching a chart. When re-loading the chart the PTPs may
then be switched on. If the settings are such to hide all
unqualified signals and to hide all signals outside primary
times the chart may be very empty of signals at some periods.
In these circumstances it is worth showing 'all' the PTPs
so there is at least one signal on the chart to be sure
that the tool is switched on.
Notes:
Left
Clicking the PTP tool switches the PTPs on and off for the
selected chart.
Untick 'Hide Un-qualified PTPs'
Untick 'Hide PTPs outside Primary Trade Times'
Once familiar with the PTPs the charts can be tidied up
by hiding the unwanted signals
